The 2015 Deep South Founders Conference gathered on the Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson MS Campus, January 22-24, to consider article 9 of the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, “On Free Will,” which reads in part
“Man, by his fall into a state of sin, hath wholly lost all ability of will to any spiritual good accompanying salvation; so as a natural man, being altogether averse from that good, and dead in sin, is not able by his own strength to convert himself, or to prepare himself thereunto.”
Our keynote speaker, Dr. Tom Nettles, brought three messages on the theme. We also heard “The Will of Man After the Fall” from Stephen Hyde, “The Will of Man in Conversion” from Tom Metcalf, and “The Will of Man in the State of Glory” from Shannon Davis. A pre-conference debate, between Dr. Tom Nettles and Dr. Steven G. Smith, on Thursday evening tackled the subject “Does Man Have A Free Will”
